The Design team at MLB works across the entire fan journey - from primary research with the fans and clubs, brand creative, in-park experiences, websites, apps, games, streaming and interactive products. We take pride in designing delightful fan focused experiences to give frictionless access to the sport. Paying attention to the trends shaping sports and media, while constantly raising the bar on entertainment and delight for every aspect of the MLB experience. We do this through the practice of a fan focused approach to product development, investing in design, content, and fan research.

We are looking for a variety of roles in product design to help shape the future vision and deliver engaging fan experiences across every touch point of the fan journey. From going to a game, experiencing it live or through digital gaming we touch it all.We are looking for a UX Research Lead for our Product Design team. The successful candidate will have a depth of expertise in various forms of user research processes and toolsets in order to help product teams develop the strategic “why” and the tangible “how” of our products. And they will have the ability to lead cross functional teams to leverage insights to inform the design and development of digital products that will be used by millions of fans across the world. 

You will:

  • Work across all our product platforms of Content Experience, Baseball Data, Predictive Gaming, Streaming and Ballpark and Ticketing Experiences
  • Design, scope, and run research efforts that help us tackle our design challenges from discovery through delivery.
  • Facilitate synthesis of qualitative input and analysis of quantitative data in order to generate insights and opportunities for design.
  • Creatively articulate the insights and stories behind our design concepts.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder needs both effectively and sensitively.
  • Work in a highly collaborative fashion with the engineering, product, and project teams on feature development.
  • Actively participate in design reviews and share your research work regularly with design and product area leadership.

You may be a fit if you:

  • Have a broad range of research methodologies from qualitative to quantitative, early discovery & opportunity finding through usability testing. 
  • Are user and detail obsessed. You have great ideas but more importantly push through to make sure they are realized by ensuring all the details are thought through. 
  • Are good at describing the why and showing work to a varied set of stakeholders. 
  • Have a show, don’t tell approach. 
  • Are a systems thinker - you understand how your work connects into the larger system.
  • Have a team first mentality - looking to learn and teach from others. 

Qualifications:

  • 5 years in user research for digital product design. 
  • Strong portfolio of shipped products that show data and insights-influenced decision making.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal and presentation skills
